Casio to focus on women’s watches

Casio India, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Japan’s electronics company Casio Computer Co, is increasing its presence in the ladies watch segment to about 30 per cent. At present, ladies watches contribute to about 20 per cent of its total 800 models. “We had not pursued the ladies brand so much, but now we are increasing our focus on this segment as we are seeing an increase in demand for this segment,” Kulbhushan Seth, Vice-President at Casio India said.

The company also recently appointed Bollywood actor Chitrangada Singh as its brand ambassador for its ‘Sheen Collection’, targeted at young woman executive. For long, Casio was focused on men’s watches with its G-Shock, Edifice and Protrek range. The company, which has about 21 exclusive showrooms in India, is planning to add 10 more during the current financial year, Seth said, adding, the company’s products are currently available through more than 600 channel outlets. Casio is also planning to focus on the top 12 cities in this financial year and also enter tier II and III cities. It will also open six new showrooms in this year.
