Following the divestment by its erstwhile partner Usha International Ltd (UIL) Honda’s now fully owned India subsidiary will go by the name Honda Cars India Limited (HCIL). The name change will be with immediate effect as per the fresh Certificate of Incorporation issued by the Registrar of Companies, NCT of Delhi and Haryana. The former Joint-Venture that began in December 1995 ended in August this year with mutual consent between both parties.
Commenting on the development, Mr Hironori Kanayama, President & CEO, Honda Cars India Limited, said, “We are committed to the Indian market and will continue to delight our customers with latest products from Honda, which will enrich their lives and enhance their lifestyles.”
Honda’s India operations supported by its two existing manufacturing facilities at Greater Noida, U.P and Tapukara, Rajasthan will continue as before and its strong sales and distribution network with 137 facilities in 85 cities spread across the country will now be re-branded as Honda Cars India Limited (HCIL).
The company’s current product range includes Honda Brio, Honda Jazz, Honda City, Honda Civic and Honda Accord which are produced at the Greater Noida facility. The company’s only SUV offering in India, the CR-V continues to be imported from Japan as a Completely Built Unit (CBU).
