Honda CRF250L had earlier launched in the month of May in Japan and it was speculated that the bike may launch in India too considering the fact that the bike not only has a powerful engine but is also fuel efficient. Still, there has been no official word from the company about the bike’s launch in the country but most of the credible publication houses of India in automobile Industry believe hit the market sooner than later. The engine that the CRF250L features has an identical bore and stroke of CBR250R. In fact, majority of the gear ratios are same. What separates the two bikes in terms of engine is the power and the torque output. Seems like Honda focused more on the fuel efficiency factor as the CRF250L gives mileage than CBR250R but compromises on the power and torque results.

CRF250L churns out a maximum power of 23 bhp along with a maximum torque of 22 Nm as compared to CBR250R’s maximum power of 25 bhp and a maximum torque of 23 Nm. The company says that the bike garners a fuel efficiency of 44.3 kmpL when driven at a constant speed of 60 kmpL which would translate into 30 to 35 kmpL in day to day riding conditions.

But fuel efficiency is not the only reason for Honda to launch the bike in the country. Hero Impulse was highly successful in India and made sure that the country entered into a new age of off-road motorcycling. The company therefore can cash in on an unexplored area of the market and take up a major share from Hero who are riding on the success of Hero Impulse. If Honda does succeed, there is a high probability that other major companies may jump on the bandwagon.
