Tuesday, April 24, 2012: Sony India today expanded its cyber shot series by launching a range of new models of cyber shot cameras. The cameras in H, W and S Series start at a price of Rs 5,490, which goes up to Rs 27,990. The cameras will be available at Sony center, photo channel outlets and across all national retailers.
This latest range of cameras from Sony come with three key technologies – quick and strong focus which helps in instant auto focus, optical steady shot that minimises handshake while picture clicking, and intelligent auto that takes multiple pictures and combines them to give a bright and sharp image.
Masaru Tamagawa, managing director, Sony India Pvt Ltd, said, “Our total sales of cyber shot cameras in the year 2011 amounted to 35 per cent. For 2012, we are looking at increasing our sales up too 60 per cent.”
The cameras that have been launched today include a mix of super high zoom up to 30x, 20x and 16x. The DSC-S5000 camera in the S series is the entry level model with a 5x optical zoom and 14.1 MP lens. The camera is priced at Rs 5,490 and will be available in Black, Silver and Pink colours. The W series starts at a price of Rs 6,490 and the highest model in this range costs Rs 14,990. These cameras come with different optical zoom capacity and CMOS sensor lenses. They also have the new 360 Panorama that helps in capturing an all-round view of landscapes and other scenes. The WX50 camera comes with 3D Sweep Paorama.
The four cameras that have been launched in the H Series are priced between Rs 13,990 and Rs 27,990 with the highest-end model DSC-HX200 V sporting an 18.2 MP Exmor CMOS sensor and a 30x optical zoom.
Sony's digital imaging business has been a growth driver for the firm this year along with the Bravia LCD series and its range of Vaio laptops. “Now that we have acquired Sony Ericsson, we expect our mobile business also to become our growth driver soon,” said Tamagawa.
