Japanese major Nissan and the Indian Insititute of Technology-Madras, on Tuesday, awarded two IIT-M students with the Nissan Global Foundation Scholarship.
The two students - Naveen Nikamath and Siddarth Dialini - were selected by the joint committee of the Nissan Global Foundation and IIT Madras (IIT-M).
Dr K Ramamurthy, dean, academics, IIT-M, said that two students from IIT Madras are selected every year to attend the scholarship. The scholarship comprises `80,000 as financial aid besides a sponsored trip to the Nissan factory in Japan.
The scholarship was handed over to the students by Hiroki Sasaki, vice-president, research and advanced engineering, Renault Nissan Technology and Business Centre India (RNTBCI), and Hiraoki Hirata, general manager, Nissan Motors Limited, Japan.Nissan is engaged in collaborative research projects with IIT-Madras in the frontier areas of automobile technology. It runs the ‘Nissan Support Programme’ to encourage research and development projects at IIT-M in the areas of engineering, science, management, humanities and social sciences.
