A 32,250-ton
bulk-carrier built for India was launched yesterday at the Nagasaki
Dockyard of the Mitsubishi Shipbuilding Co., in South-Eastern Japan.
Mitsubishi said the 4.5 million dollar ship, Shahjehan Jayanti was the fifth of eight vessels being manufactured for Jayanti Shipping of New Delhi. The ship has an average speed of 15.8 knots and is powered by a 9,000-horsepower diesel engine. It is expected to be ready for delivery in October, Mitsubishi said.
The ship is 191 metres (630.3 feet) long, 27.4 metres wide and 14.8 metres deep, Mitsubishi said. The sixth vessel is scheduled to be launched on May 11 next.
