Hitachi Begins Manufacturing AC in India

Hitachi Home & Life Solutions (India) (HHLI), a subsidiary of Japan's Hitachi Appliance , will soon launch its VRF (variable refrigerant flow) line of air-conditioners. Starting in June, 2012, the "Set Free" line will be manufactured in Hitachi's manufacturing plant in Kadi, Gujarat, India. The first units will be commercially available by the end of July 2012.

This addition will strengthen the company's presence in the commercial air-conditioning market in India. The Kadi plant is already producing room air-conditioners, ductables, chiller, and telecom air-conditioners.

Hitachi said the current market scenario reveals consistent increases in demand for intelligent VRF cooling.

The VRF Set Free line is engineered with a scroll compressor' and advanced heat exchangers. India-made units will be available in 6 hp to 12 hp capacities; imported top discharge units are also available from 8 hp to 54 hp.

Side hot air discharge units will be those produced at the outset. Manufacturing of top-discharge units is planned in the future.
