Despite protests and campaigns from farmers across 44 villages in the region, Maruti Suzuki
India Ltd. has not faced any problems in continuing with their plans.
MSIL is readying two new manufacturing plant sites at Hansalpur and
Vithlapur. Work on these plants is still in initial stages with the
boundary wall being erected and grounds being leveled. These sites fall
under the Government’s proposed SIR in the region and plans are on
track.
A technical team from Japan is likely to pay a visit to the site where Maruti Suzuki India’s new manufacturing plants are to be located. This team is expected to visit for two days in the coming week and will survey the new site, reports Business Standard.
This site was also inspected at the end of April this year by Osamu Suzuki, Chairman of Suzuki Motor Corp. Suzuki also met with the state Chief Minister Narendra Modi, appraising him of the company’s decision to commence construction operations. Investments to the tune of INR 2,000 to 2,200 crores are expected to be invested in the Hansalpur site which has already attracted key vendors such as Jai Bharat Maruti, Caparo Maruti and Futaba while other vendors are expected to enter the region in the future.
Maruti Suzuki’s new plant at Hansalpur near Bechraji in Mehsana district of Gujarat is scheduled to get commissioned by mid 2015. As per company’s schedule, the plant will be completed and production is expected to commence by 2015-16. The plant will have output of 2.5 lakh units per annum.
