The event has gained in popularity and this year’s edition was attended by more than 400 prominent guests, including the DG (International Relations) from Osaka Prefecture and top officials from the cities of Osaka, Sakai, Nara, Kyoto and Kobe, members of the diplomatic corps, prominent members of the local Indian community, media persons and Japanese citizens from all walks of life. In celebration of the shared bond between India and Japan, we had made fusion the centerpiece of this year’s event. Consequently, we had a Bharatanatyam dance performed to an Okinawan melody, the Japanese Biwa paying in tandem with the Indian Santoor, Sitar and Tabla paired with the Violin and a dance featuring Koli music from the fishermen of Mumbai and Yoshida Kyodai Shamisen music. Another highlight was a folk dance by ladies of the resident Indian community which received an enthusiastic encore.
