As part of twin city programme, a delegation from Nichinan in Japan will be visiting Mangalore City Corporation in the month of November.
As a preparation for the visit, Directors of Aina Business Promotions Private Ltd Satoru Comori and Haruka Ito had stayed in Mangalore for the last three months and have brought out a booklet ‘Incredible Mangalore’ in Japanese language highlighting the major activities, educational institutions, hospitals, fish market, vegetable markets, places of visit and other details of Mangalore.
Speaking on the occasion, Business Associate Ravi Raja Rao said the twin city plan aims at developing strong ties and relationship between the two cities. Nichinan is a city in Miyazaki district of Japan and came into existence in 1950. Fishing and agriculture are the major activities in Nichinan and has eight fisheries port and the fish production is 3,354,230 tonne.
He said under Nichinan Gakuen Nursing School, one can have exchange programme, wherein the students will be given free nursing training.
Rao said realising the shortage of labourers faced in Mangalore city, Japan model of construction can be exhibited in Mangalore with the help of Nichinan.
At the same time, boulders can be exchanged. The twin city programme can also include cultural exchange programme to highlight the rich culture and tradition of both the cities.
Under exchange programme, a South Indian cafe can be started in Nichinan and similarly Sushi bar can be set up in Mangalore.
It can also promote trade and business activities among the two cities.
At the same time, the exchange programme will also give thrust on agriculture, organic farming.
Corporator Shanker Bhat said the twin city programme should not be limited to one visit alone. It should help both the cities to take development work.
MCC Commissioner Dr Harish said that the MCC needs to send an official invitation to invite the delegates to Mangalore, to which, all the corporators agreed.
