To commemorate the 60 year of Indo-Japan ties, All Nippon Airways (ANA) of Japan, which has been operating services only between Mumbai and Tokyo for five years now, would launch flights from Delhi in October.
The daily flights from Delhi would be launched from October 29, the bookings for which would open next month, ANA (India) General Manager Kenji Sugino said here.
ANA has been operating daily flights between Mumbai and Tokyo since 2007 and Delhi would be its second destination in India.
Through these flights, the airline plans to connect major destinations on the American west coast like Seattle, Los Angeles and San Francisco, he said.
The airline would be operating Delhi-Tokyo flights with a Boeing 767-300 Extended Range aircraft, which will have 35 business and 167 economy seats. The inaugural flight from Narita would take off for Delhi on October 28.
Earlier, the Japanese airline used to operate a daily non-stop Business Jet between Mumbai-Tokyo but due to public demand, this has now been changed to a two-class service, having an economy class as well, with Boeing 737-700 ER aircraft, Sugino said.
With the launch of daily flights from Delhi in October, the premier Japanese carrier would have a total of 14 flights per week from India.
A member of the Star Alliance, ANA now flies to 77 domestic and international cities with a fleet of 232 aircraft serving a network of 168 routes. It is also the launch customer for the world''s newest and most advanced passenger aircraft, the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, which Air India has also ordered.
